Fundraising and Development Internship

Internship Description

Fertility Within Reach is a non-profit organization that advocates for fertility health benefits at the individual, professional, and legislative levels. Our Banking on the Future program issues grants to adolescent oncology patients and transgender individuals so that they may store their reproductive cells before sterilizing procedures. This internship will focus on grant writing and fundraising, with the collected funds being utilized for our Banking on the Future grant program. At this creative and rewarding position, interns will gain experience in non-profit work and acquire grant-writing skills through the following responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Davina Fankhauser to secure grants, including:
  • Research available grant opportunities
  • Write, review, and submit grant applications
  • Draft thank-you letters for awarded grants
  • Fundraising outreach, including contacting potential donors or organizations
  • Developing virtual fundraising events and working alongside our social media team to promote said events
  • Administratively set up Fertility Within Reach to be a recipient of funds (Facebook, Network for Good, etc.)
  • Learn Grant Station and CyberGrants software

Regular responsibilities of this job will include tracking grant opportunities and writing grant proposals and applications. 

Non-profit work is exciting and dynamic. The responsibilities of this internship may shift with the direction of our fundraising and development initiatives, as we are constantly developing new ideas to aid our cause, and new responsibilities and projects become available regularly. 

This is an unpaid internship, we would be happy to assist with completing any documentation for university-sponsored stipends.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Current graduate or undergraduate student studying business, marketing, communications, finance, English, or a related field
  • A passion for fertility/reproductive health that will translate into grant applications and fundraising outreach
  • Experience with fundraising outreach, grant writing, or Grant Station software is preferred, but we are prepared to work with you and teach you these skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal skills
  • Able to work independently or in group settings
  • Have own computer and internet access
  • Be available for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week
  • Flexibility, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to new projects

Location

Our internship program is fully remote. Opportunities for in-person work may be available for interns based in the Boston area. However, the location of the applicant does not influence hiring decisions.

Schedule

This is a summer-long, unpaid position at a minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Given the intern’s interest and availability, the internship may continue into the fall semester.
