Event Planning Internship

Description
Champions for Philanthropy (CFP) is an organization that works with professional athletes to assist in establishing and/or managing their nonprofit organizations and help further their philanthropic pursuits. CFP also maintains a blog entitled The Sport of Philanthropy, which highlights the philanthropic activities of professional athletes, retired athletes and professional sports teams and leagues. CFP hosts various events, including events that allow athletes to use their voice to tell their stories directly and events that highlight the charitable achievements of professional athletes. 
CFP seeks a dynamic self-starter to assist the organization in all event planning matters. The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills and experience in graphic design. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of sports event planning.
The ideal candidate is organized, enthusiastic, and able to see opportunities in obstacles. The candidate has also organized or assisted in organizing events in the past (informal and formal).
Interns should be able to commit to 15 - 20 hours per week, although there is room for more flexible hours/duration. Interns will have the opportunity to assist with virtual events, as well as brainstorm event ideas. 
All of our internships are unpaid but we are happy to help you arrange to receive school credit, fellowships, work-study or any other form of compensation available through your school or other institution.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in virtual event and conference coordination, including researching online platforms, developing/distributing invitations, preparing marketing materials, packing booth materials, shipping logistics and post-event follow-up
  • Assist the team with planning and executing events, marketing and public relations and communications
  • Internet Research
  • Contact vendors as needed to move event logistics forward
  • Organize and purchase supplies for event as needed
  • Help to establish logistics for the events as needed
  • Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements
  • Plan and develop programs, agendas, budgets, and services
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Compelling writing skills
  • Strong communications skills both via email and phone
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
  • Motivated, hardworking, and interested in start-up culture
  • Strong ability to self-prioritize and be a quick learner, with a project ownership mentality
