Sr. Service Specialist Gasoline Engines

Location:  Work and travel from home. Currently hiring for Detroit, MI, Indianapolis, IN, Nashville, TN or Louisville, KY locations.

Under the direction of Regional Sales Manager, assist dealers and OEMs with technical support, technical training, and disposition warranty claims.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Process warranty claims, provide online technical support, monitor “Live Chat” technician support on Kohler website and field dealer technician calls that come through the Kohler switchboard.
  • Support the OEM distributors, and dealers in a manner that maintains and grows this as a competitive advantage. Enter the information from these service calls into the caller data system.  Share best practices with other Service Specialists.
  • Execute new technician training as well as annual update school training for assigned dealers.
  • Travel to dealers to investigate and remedy field problems or disputed warranty claims.
  • Visit assigned dealers on a regular basis to build a technical relationship and support their business growth. Attend annual dealer open houses to support dealers and their customers.
  • Identify any potential problem trends based on field reports, arrange for the return of sample parts and submit Field Complaints as needed to drive corrective action.
  • Conduct internal and external service training programs for dealers, distributors, and OEM accounts. 
  • Analyze warranty claims from dealers, distributors and OEMs. Approve or reject claims from dealers and distributors on basis of information submitted and obtain more data as needed.
  • Provide consulting service to Technical Publications staff for their preparation of service manuals, bulletins, kit instructions, etc. Review preliminary drafts for technical correctness and understandable language.
  • Present ideas for product improvement to the Regional Manager or Product Managers.
  • Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies.
Skills/Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience with the troubleshooting and repair of gasoline utility engines in the industrial or turf industries.
  • High school diploma is required. Associate degree with a strong emphasis in mechanical and electrical courses of study preferred.
  • Must have ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Well developed customer service skills required.
  • Ability to train others and deliver presentations preferred.
  • Ability to work from home and travel 30-50% of time depending on location required.
