Campaign Intern

Fall Campaign Intern Job Description

Overview:
In the 2018 midterms, Jason Crow beat 5-term Republican incumbent Mike Coffman by 11%, winning a seat that no Democrat had ever held since its creation. Colorado’s 6th congressional district is considered to be the state’s only swing district and is a targeted race for both Republicans and Democrats. 
As an intern on his reelection campaign, you will learn the fundamentals of how to run a successful political campaign. You will gain an understanding of fundraising plans and how to execute them - a valuable skill across the public sector whether you’re working in politics or the nonprofit world. You will learn how to drive the narrative around a candidate by helping manage our social accounts and drafting copy for them. You will learn the most effective ways to contact voters by assisting with canvassing and phonebanking efforts. 

Responsibilities: 
The Campaign Intern is responsible for assisting all operations of the campaign. This includes communications, fundraising, digital, field, and other administrative work as necessary. The tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist the Field Director with voter outreach tasks like canvassing and phonebanking
  • Assist the Campaign Manager and Communications staff with our social media efforts and interactions with the press, drafting copy for posts
  • Support the Finance team in their efforts to prospect new donors, discovering them and researching them so we can contact them
  • Other administrative tasks as necessary

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated academic or professional interest working on campaigns on in politics
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Google Suite
  • Willingness to work variable hours
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Spanish fluency a plus

Compensation
Monthly stipend available, or possibility to receive academic credit (if applicable)
