Public and Patient Education Internship

The Education Institute is a source for outstanding initiatives in education, training, research and information for local, national and international communities to prevent and treat musculoskeletal conditions and enhance patient care. Within the Institute, the Department of Public & Patient Education provides programs for patients and the general public on prevention, treatment and management of health care issues. The Department strives to provide current, useful information to the public and patient population through education programs, lectures/symposia, workshops, exercises classes, publications and webinars.

Position Description:
The Public and Patient internship program is designed to give the student an opportunity to learn how to provide virtual health education to the public and patient populations. The intern will report to the Public and Patient Education Senior Coordinator and work closely with other department staff. This internship will give students the opportunity to develop skills in public health programming and health education. As a result of this internship, the student will:

  • Provide assistance with virtual exercises/wellness programs including program attendance, day-of program logistics, and set-up/break-down
  • Assist with implementation of virtual community outreach programs (Pain and Stress Management Programs, Nutrition Education Programs)
  • Assist with preparation and data entry for lectures and workshops
  • Assist Program Coordinators with other projects and administrative tasks as needed
  • Adhere to Hospital standards and procedures, such as dress code and patient confidentiality & privacy

All internship work and hours will be completed remotely.
Hours: Flexible, Monday-Thursday afternoons preferred. Stipend is available.
Dates: September 2020– December 2020, option to extend to Spring semester
