Database Administrator

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Database Administrator (DBA). This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of the City of Fayetteville’s Enterprise databases. The role includes the development and design of Enterprise database strategies, monitoring, and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. The DBA may also plan, coordinate, and implement Enterprise database security measures. This role focuses on database management specific to City of Fayetteville (CoF) database servers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining or administering relational data; along with a strong understanding and utilization of database administration and best practices.

Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, GIS, or a related field.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:
None

Preferred:
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate Certification and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer Certification, Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), or Academic Geospatial Information Science and Technology Certificate.

Please Note: Candidates selected for a position within the Information Technology Department will be required to successfully complete a Police Department and fingerprint based background check.

From the time of closing the hiring process is anticipated to last 3 - 4 weeks. The hiring process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
