Junior Communication Specialist

MDB, Inc. is a strategic consulting firm providing communication, information management, public education and engagement, and policy analysis services for government agencies, nonprofits, and corporations. We are looking for three Junior Communication Specialists to support a contract with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) focused on Covid-19 public health communication. The candidate will be hired on a contingent basis, dependent upon receipt of the contract award.  

This full-time position will support the CDC contract for up to one year. It is preferred that the candidate is based near MDB, Inc. offices in Washington, DC or Durham, NC. Due to Covid-19, work can be performed from a remote location. The Junior Communication Specialist will be responsible for conducting research and preparing various communication materials in a language and format appropriate for diverse target audiences, such as federal and state agencies, response workers, and the general public. 

Specific responsibilities will include:
·      Working in a team environment to plan and execute all phases of projects
·      Conducting research and analyses related to the impacts of Covid-19 on specific stakeholder groups
·      Developing fact sheets, infographics, reports and presentations, including creating text, charts, and tables
·      Supporting the development of public health training materials, evaluation tools, and marketing products
·      Interacting with MDB staff to ensure project goals are achieved according to client expectations
·      Working closely with MDB staff to achieve a high level of readability, consistency, and technical accuracy of all materials

Qualifications:
·      Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in public or environment health and communication
·      1-3 years of relevant experience
·      Ability to convey complex public health concepts in a clear, direct style that is accessible and comprehensible to diverse target audiences
·      Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
·      Expertise in all MS Office products
