Responsibilities

As a Medical Records Technician, you will perform the following duties:
o   Serve as a technical expert in health record documentation
o   Maintain a medical records system for a facility
o   Provide clerical and computer support to medical staff
o   Extract medical record information for patients

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
o   Performing administrative or clerical duties relating to the processing and maintenance of medical records
o   Maintaining medical records in accordance with regulations
o   Reviewing records for correct format, completeness, and accuracy
o   Preparing correspondence, memorandums, and reports
o   OR
Education: Four years above high school OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
