Business Development Intern

Role Summary

Fostering long-term relationships with top universities, respected government agencies, Fortune 100 companies, and non-profit educational organizations to provide resources and opportunities to 1.8 million members stands at the core of how NSHSS operates and delivers impact. The Business Development Intern is responsible for obtaining new leads, managing communications, and building marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and conversion for NSHSS partners. The Business Development Intern works remotely with a flexible schedule of 10 hours/week and reports to the Partnerships Manager and Coordinator.

This is an unpaid internship serving as a period of beneficial learning with no expectation of compensation. The internship timeline aligns with the academic calendar and a job offer at the end of the semester is not guaranteed. The primary benefits of the internship shall accrue to the intern, not to the enterprise.

Essential Functions

  • Identify new leads and perform outreach to expand partner database
  • Conduct best marketing practice research to elevate email/social media content, language, and photos
  • Assist with online (virtual conference, webinar) and in-person (member, Scholar's Day, corporate) event preparation
  • Create clear, concise one-pagers, along with other communications documents, outlining impressive marketing stats and scholarships to be shared with potential partners
  • Gain valuable CRM experience through data cleanse and reorganization of NSHSS Salesforce
  • Prepare, monitor, and track proposals, contracts, and marketing deliverables for new and existing partners
  • Help build inaugural foundation fundraising campaign to boost donor directory
  • Receive training across all enterprise departments to learn the basics of the business and maintain a record of hours worked

Education/Experience

  • Seeking/obtained Bachelor’s degree
  • 2020/2021 graduation year preferred
  • Applicants who receive college credit are preferred
  • 1 year office experience preferred
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and with accuracy
  • Proficient with MS Office, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
