DMV Hearings Program Coordinator

The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced program coordinator to conduct administrative hearings for the NC Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for a variety of circumstances involving drivers or vehicles. 
 
In this role, you will:
  • Hear motions, take testimony, review and analyze all evidence, and render fair and impartial decisions.
  • Draft Findings of Facts and Conclusion of Law.
  • Provide customer support in motor vehicle regulations, 
 
What You Bring
  • Experience with the formal aspects of civil procedures and protecting the constitutional rights of all parties involved in the administrative process; experience with Microsoft Office, entering and extracting information from Mainframe and web-based systems. 
  • Able to consistently demonstrate good legal knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of proper courtroom decorum when dealing with all parties. 
  • Critical thinking and listening skills necessary to create formal hearing decisions and orders based on evidence and testimony provided.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct fair and impartial administrative hearing, formulate clear and concise finding of fact, analyze relevant legal standards, establish conclusions of law, render unbiased decisions based on the evidence and testimony provided and prepare well written orders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to diverse groups and communicate with internal and external agencies to include law enforcement agencies, DMV personnel, district attorneys, trial lawyers and judges.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to interpret Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle Laws, criminal law and procedures, the rules of Civil Procedure, and constitutional law as applied to court proceedings.
 
Management Prefers
  • Candidates with a valid state Driver License with no active points and no suspensions or revocations in the last ten years. 
 
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
