Position Title: CORE Associate
Business Unit: Credit
Reports To: Manager of Commercial Underwriting

Position Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for developing key banking skills and successfully completing a developmental program for placement into one of a variety of functional positions in the Bank with an emphasis on commercial banking and credit analysis. The incumbent participates in various functional and developmental programs and training to acquire operational, professional and relationship management banking skills. During the program, the incumbent is accountable for preparation of all aspects of financial analysis of current and prospective commercial customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
Spreads financial statements for analysis and completes industry and economic conditions analysis to protect the Bank from loss. Utilizes software to spread the various types of submitted financial statements according to established policies and procedures accurately and timely to aid in the analysis of the borrower’s capacity.
Performs credit investigations, analyzes collateral valuation and analyzes commercial loan covenant compliance to make recommendations as to the creditworthiness of borrowers by identifying key credit issues and preparing a written analysis according to available information and established policies and procedures accurately and timely to protect the Bank from loss.
Uses the Internet and other resources to analyze the creditworthiness of borrowers according to available data to aid in the quality of lending-related decisions.
Works from general direction from the Manager of Commercial Underwriting or assigned rotational management to complete assignments working under the tutelage of more experienced bankers, maintains a current pipeline and completes self-study based projects and case studies to improve knowledge in necessary areas.
By understanding the conditions and economic trends of various industries projecting future performance and effective client communication, applies knowledge to analyzing relevant facts and circumstances to credit applications evaluates risk profile within the context of established lending guidelines and contributes to the decisions governing the overall direction of the relationship.
Learns and applies organizational structures, business etiquette, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, sales skills and negotiation skills in addition to financial accounting, qualitative analysis, credit risk mitigation, borrowing needs and structuring and pricing credit facilities.
Learns and utilizes general industry information, internal references, products and services, functional responsibilities for various Bank departments including Wholesale and Consumer Banking, Credit Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing and Operations.
Rotates through departments and branches based on specific training agendas and schedules in order to be acquainted with banking functions and environments.
Starts developing networking referral sources. Regularly contacts sources and attends networking events to develop new business relationships.
Completes project assignments in conjunction with rotations and works with little oversight to complete them by developing and prioritizing actions steps and establishing and communicating the work plan to the appropriate participants.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
