Epidemiologist

Utilizes epidemiologic and statistical methods to design, analyze, and deliver high quality observational research studies in infectious disease, with COVID-19 of focus, sports injury research, and other clinical areas.
Applies epidemiologic principles from study concept through final study delivery; develops other scientific communications such as presentations, abstracts and manuscripts; and contributes expertise to study planning, study delivery, and study results and interpretation.
Provides study design leadership and consultation, contributes to data curation from electronic health records and diagnostic results, ongoing data review and data quality efforts, involved in analytic programming and statistical activities such as creating study cohorts, developing analytic datasets, calculating descriptive statistics, performing comparative analyses to assess risk and rates of outcome occurrence, create data visualizations and clearly communicate study results in agile analytic environment.
JOB OVERVIEW
Work closely with cross-functional team by providing epidemiology and outcomes research leadership for observational research on infectious disease, with COVID-19 of focus, sports injury research, and other clinical areas.  Design and implement methodologically sound analyses to meet project objectives. Conduct and supervise analyses, evaluation and reporting of studies. Hands-on analytic abilities (SAS preferred) is key.
Responsibilities
•Serves as project lead or in support of project lead on client facing or internal projects.
•Performs descriptive and complex epidemiologic analyses and data quality reviews using SAS as part of a large analytic and cross-functional team.
•Authors protocols, reports and other study documents with independent, critical thinking to ensure quality and completeness of output, oversees timeline for deliverables associated with analysis and reporting.
•Conducts analyses using complex existing data sources, including creating protocols and analytic plan summaries, in an agile analytic environment
•Develops presentations and data visualizations to communicate interim and final study results with internal project team and external audiences.
•Interacts with clients and collaborators, with senior leadership involvement as needed.
•Manages workload independently including multiple tasks and projects and works with study team to prioritize work across multiple projects within study scope.
•Provides review for work of peers and junior staff in areas including observational study methods, statistical methods, and the selection of instruments and clinical measures to achieve objectives.
•Identifies client-related, budget-related and internal issues that may require attention or escalation.
•Represents IQVIA externally through conference and client meeting presentations.
•Creates project timelines, identifies resources, and communicates progress with internal project team and senior leadership.

Experience
Typically requires 3 - 5 years of prior relevant experience.
Knowledge
Requires advanced knowledge of job area, and broad knowledge of a other related job areas, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Education
Bachelor's Degree - with 7 years relevant education and experience
Or
Master's Degree - Public health, epidemiology, outcomes research, health economics or a relevant scientific field and 5 years relevant experience
Or
Ph.D. - with 2 years relevant experience
Skills and Abilities
•Ability to design and conduct in depth analytic research (using SAS) and effectively communicate key findings and next steps to internal and external audiences
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients in a matrixed environment, and mentor junior team members.
•Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
•Must be highly organized and self-motivated with ability to determine and meet objectives.
•Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and SAS.
•Sound methodological training in pharmacoepidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology, sports injury epidemiology, biostatistics, outcomes research, data science or related area relevant to observational research.
