Big Data Analyst

Project Summary: The Polio and Picornavirus Laboratory Branch, Division of Viral Diseases, is seeking Big Data Analysts with strong data skills to support multiple exciting big data projects: (1) Data mining and visualizations using genetic data; (2) Cloud-based computational surveillance system for global health; (3) sequence analysis using advanced machine learning and prediction methods.
Student Role: Under the guidance of CDC scientists, the student will assist with data management and analysis (e.g. programming), data visualization, and publications.
Qualifications: Applicants must have good knowledge of computer programming, statistics/public health. Required skills: Unix/Linux system and at least one programming language. Preferred skills: Python/R, Javascript, Amazon AWS, knowledge about machine learning toolboxes.
