Our internship program is designed to provide meaningful work through hands-on, authentic, professional experiences.
 
About the Team
 
The Fund Accounting department will be adding an individual to their team which is responsible for the management of over $130 billion in assets under management. The fund accounting intern will assist the team in various capacities including but not limited to: oversight of the custodian and fund administrative agent by monitoring and following up on key reconciliations, SOC1 reviews and cash controls. This individual will also be introduced to tax matters related to tax withholding reclaims and tax agent oversight as well as valuation work with instrument leveling (ASC820) for financial statement purposes. The candidate will be exposed to a variety of asset types including traditional equities and fixed income securities as well as non-traditional investments. This individual will work s with other areas in operations as well as the custodian and fund accounting staff at the bank to support the accuracy and timeliness of custodian and fund accounting data. 
 
SWIB is seeking an operations intern to work in the Investment Support Services Division on the Fund Accounting team. The intern will work 10-15 hours per week during the school year, if the selected candidate is local, and up to 40 hours per week over the summer, with the possibility of further work of 10-15 hours per week during the fall 2021 semester.
 
Essential activities:

  • Assist in the oversight, operational and fund accounting responsibilities working with the custodian bank as well as other internal departments.
  • Support investment operations manage risk with an eye on efficiencies and enhancements.
  • Evaluate workflows, procedures and internal controls on a continuous basis.
  • Job shadow the Fund Accounting team within ISS.
  • As assigned, assist Director of Accounting and his team with data entry and analysis and other special needs/projects, as needed.

The Ideal candidate:

  • Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in accounting or finance.
  • Excellent computer and application skills including MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
