We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to be a part of our dedicated team. SWIB’s intern program offers an opportunity for you to put your skills to use while at the same time to learn new skills in a professional environment. Our internship program is designed to provide meaningful work through hands-on, authentic, professional experiences.
 
About the Team
 
The Private Equity and Private Credit team (the “Team”) consists of 13 investment professionals that actively manage approximately $10 billion of AUM. The Team focuses on three areas (1) Private Equity, (2) Venture Capital and (3) Private Credit investing in funds, secondaries and directly into companies. The Team is building global, diversified portfolios of funds and direct investments with the objective of outperforming specific benchmarks. The Private Equity portfolio seeks to make long term commitments to external funds and make direct equity investments into companies. The Venture Capital portfolio also makes long term commitments to external funds and invests directly into companies. The Private Credit portfolio seeks out investments in funds and direct private credit investments. Across the three areas, the Team is responsible for identifying, diligencing, selecting, negotiating, closing, monitoring and eventually exiting these investments.
 
SWIB is seeking a student intern to join it’s the Private Equity and Private Credit Team. This internship will provide an opportunity for the student to gain exposure and knowledge into private market investing. The intern will be assigned to the Portfolio Managers (PMs) but will work with and leverage the broader members of the Private Equity and Private Credit teams. The intern will work up to 40 hours per week during the summer with the possibility for 10-15 hours per week during the school year, if the selected candidate is local.
 
Essential activities:

  • Assist with the analysis and research of private equity, venture capital and private credit investments (funds and direct investments).
  • Become well versed with the private equity, venture capital and private credit investment systems to aid with the building of internal reports and models.
  • Data validation and input related to the Efront project.
  • CASH financial statement project.
  • Special projects, as assigned.
 
The Ideal candidate:

  • Ability to work in Madison, WI for an approximate 10-week period, beginning late May/early June 2021.
  • Undergraduate student with Finance, Economics, Business or Statistics major. Would also consider a candidate with interest in private market investments.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with Efront and PitchBook.
  • Familiarity with financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Preferred candidate will have significant experience in Excel modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectually curious and an eager learner.
  • Ability to work on projects independently.
