The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), COVID-19 Health Information Center (HIC), in Portland, OR is recruiting for a Social Media Coordinator.

What will you do?
As a Social Media Coordinator assigned to the COVID-19 Health Information Center (HIC), you will work as an integral part of the OHA communications team. You will provide health information, support stakeholder engagement and enhance transparency across a variety of digital platforms, primarily on OHA's Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.

In this role, you will broaden the reach of OHA’s digital pathways and ensure social content is delivered in an accurate and engaging way. You will respond to comments, promote health messaging and be responsible for developing social media governance and policies, as needed, maintaining editorial calendars and coordinating digital content development, and tracking results across all of OHA's social accounts. In addition, you will be the primary contact for OHA's social response on COVID-19, which includes daily postings of new cases and other critical, quick-turn content and information.

What are we looking for?
Requested Skills

  • Minimum requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree and two years professional level experience in Public Relations or Affairs OR
  • Five years’ experience directly related to the position under recruitment; two of the five years must have been at the professional level.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license or alternate transportation.
  • Experience with media, social media, print and web-based information delivery systems, with an emphasis on social media.
  • Experience in strategic thinking and demonstrated skill set in the communications field.
  • Experience in advancing public education about programs, services and initiatives through the news media and other communication channels as appropriate.
  • Experience with customer service tactics and skills; excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in writing, editing and proficient public speaking.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively coordinating and facilitating diverse interests.
  • Experience completing multiple tasks with varying deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience with creating GIFs and social media cards; proficiency in Canva preferred.
  • Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
