Policy Planning Summer Intern

The Policy Planning function seeks one full-time intern for the summer of 2021. The intern would contribute to projects for two teams in policy planning: (1) the Policy Planning and Strategy team fosters the development of the Federal Reserve’s medium- and long-term regulatory policy agenda and strategies to accomplish that agenda; (2) the Innovation Policy team develops the Division's forward-looking policy strategy regarding innovation issues (e.g., "Fintech", artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology).
We seek a summer intern that would support both teams. The intern would be assigned projects involving monitoring market, regulatory, and legislative developments via publicly-available resources and conducting self-directed research.
Candidate should possess strong analytical skills and have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing. Strong candidates prioritize coaching and feedback and comfortable dealing with a range of people and situations. Candidates will need to be able to recognize and manage priorities, and manage expectations accordingly. They will similarly need to identify the key information and data needed to support decision at a senior level. Prior experience with banking regulations or technology issues is not required, though an interest in either is key.
Over the course of the internship, the student will:
• Independently develop a research paper
• Learn and apply analytical skills
• Contribute to important section projects with more senior staff
• Participate in section meetings and discussions on an emerging technology or policy issues related to banks and the financial system
While completing each of the above learning objectives, a student will gain experience on important issues in bank policy, emerging technology, financial stability, and other regulatory and supervisory topics. The student’s contributions would align with important initiatives in the division, while also providing tangible work experience and help determine if a career as an analyst or working on financial policy issues would be of interest upon graduation.
 
Salary listed is minimum offered.
