Description
PowerSecure has an immediate opening for a full-time Accountant I in the Wake Forest, NC location. Initially during the pandemic, the position will be mostly remote. Once the company returns to the office, this position will be expected to report to both our Wake Forest and Durham, NC offices as needed.
This entry-level accounting role will be responsible for controls, general accounting and providing support for various business units throughout PowerSecure.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses in a timely and accurate manner
- Assist in tracking timely completion for all account reconciliations for the business
- Prepare monthly business unit reporting, analyses, and ad hoc requests
- Balance Inter-company and affiliate transactions
- Ensure all work is thoroughly documented, meets a standard of re-performance, and can be easily followed
- Research and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain an effective system of internal controls
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Support the PowerSecure Accounting organization’s efforts in pursuit of organizational excellence

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field of study required
- Recent general accounting experience in public accounting, industry, or public/industry combination. (Internship or co-op are minimum acceptable types of experience)
- Experience with month-end close, general ledger/journal entry, analytical reviews and reconciliation highly preferred
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- ERP experience preferred
- Advanced degree, CMA, CPA, or CPA candidate preferred
