Summer 2021 Program Services Intern

Internship Program Description:
Rocky Mountain Institute offers an active, well-established internship program! Every summer our offices welcome a group of students to put their knowledge to work on various projects and energy related initiatives across the institute. We look for exceptional people with a variety of academic backgrounds from colleges and universities.

These internships are designed for students to become integrated into a project or operations team, giving them an opportunity to apply their education in the workplace. The goal of our internship program is to create a mutually positive experience for intern and manager that ideally could lead to a full time offer within the organization after graduation. Our interns are pivotal in shaping the future of RMI.

Our interns work on a wide variety of projects, which are ever-changing as we continue to grow! You can read more about our work here on our website. You can expect to work on operations projects within the Program Services team that will help RMI scale with a focus on process improvement and project management.

Your project could include the following types of work:
The Program Services team within RMI’s Operations function focuses on a variety of areas such as continuous improvement, project management, and strategic implementation of Institute projects. As RMI scales, the Operations team needs to ensure the Institute can effectively and efficiently work. The Program Services team helps to lead process improvement approaches, driving a culture of continuous improvement while also supporting RMI’s programmatic staff. As an intern, your project will support this mission by helping Operations scale. You will coordinate with other departments, conduct needs assessments, plan, implement, evaluate, train, and support change management across the institute.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
· Applicants should be pursuing a business graduate or undergraduate degree
· Understanding of continuous improvement concepts and methodologies
· Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
· Strong analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
· Attention to detail and exceptional accuracy
· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Salesforce

General Qualifications:
· Passion for RMI’s mission
· Team-oriented mentality
· Ability to work in a team oriented environment and communicate well with colleagues from multiple departments and disciplines
· Intense curiosity
· Self-motivated and able to work independently

FAQ

Location
Interns will either be asked to work in the same office as their immediate supervisor if conditions are agreed to be safe by all parties or the internship will otherwise be offered remotely – details to be determined as more is known about the COVID-19 global pandemic. All our U.S.-based internships were successfully conducted remotely in Summer 2020.

Office locations: Boulder, Colorado

Payment
Each intern will be provided a stipend of $18.00 per hour (or equal to, dependent on academic funding participation).
