Software Engineer Intern
The Software intern is an entry-level professional who participates in creating and extending Omnicell products. This person is a passionate developer who can apply industry and corporate best practices to produce quality applications. This person applies their practical and theoretical knowledge from Computer Science, and works as part of a team to design and develop new products as well as maintain Omnicell’s current portfolio.
Things you’ll do during your internship:
- Work with assigned mentor and agile team to understand requirements, implement creative system solutions, and verify results through automated tests.
- At the end of your internship, you will present your project to Omnicell product development leadership
- Work as part of a team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, support and improve software
- Create unit tests/assist in code reviews to help ensure code quality throughout the application’s life cycle
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with building web-based applications and API’s.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies like Git, Jenkins, Gitlab, AWS, Azure, Docker
- Familiarity with one or more of the following areas:
- Deploying service oriented and microservices architectures
- Building event-driven architectures using messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Deploying applications in the public cloud using technologies like Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Experience building software applications as part of coursework, hobby, job, or open source project.
- 0-2 years’ experience in software engineering building web-based applications
Basic Qualifications:
- must have a cumulative 3.2 GPA or above
- must have completed at least 1 year towards a bachelor’s degree
- must be currently enrolled in either a bachelors or master’s program
- must be enrolled in a degree field that is relevant to or within the field of study towards the internship positions function (
- must be authorized to legally work in the US without Omnicell sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters students preferred
- Experience in C# and the .NET Framework
- Experience in Angular 4 or above
- Experience working with healthcare specific data exchange formats including HL7 and FHIR.
- Experience in inventory / warehouse management
Work Conditions:
- Office Environment. (Remote due to Covid)
