Intern

Framework announces 2021 Internship program focused on diversifying the talent pool for ESG/sustainability professionals

Stamford, Connecticut, January 7, 2021: FrameworkESG is pleased to announce the creation of a new internship program for students in their third or fourth year of undergraduate study or in graduate programs across a diverse spectrum of backgrounds and disciplines. We encourage all individuals who are interested in learning more about how we can, together, work with business to create a more inclusive, regenerative, and equitable society.

We’ve created this internship program in an effort to address the lack of diversity among the growing group of professionals who focus on addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. These efforts are known also as sustainability, corporate responsibility, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate citizenship. Increasingly, the issues of greatest concern to people across the societal spectrum are climate change and environmental impacts, diversity and inclusion, economic equality, and human rights. Our work involves helping business leaders to understand and address those concerns in ways that create value for all. A more diverse and inclusive cohort of ESG professionals can help to accelerate progress on all of these issues in business and in society at large.

In creating this internship, we want to do our part to introduce more young professionals with a range of backgrounds and perspectives to the opportunities to contribute to addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time. At the same time, we want to build for our own firm a diverse and talented pipeline of future analysts and consultants.

Please see below for the position description.

Are you passionate about making the world a better place? About helping companies understand and respond to stakeholders’ needs and concerns and improve the sustainability of their business? Do you want to work with committed, collegial, and thoughtful team members to deliver exceptional value to clients? FrameworkESG may be the place for you.

About FrameworkESG: FrameworkESG is a specialty consulting firm that helps clients understand and address evolving environmental, societal, and economic realities to create value for all stakeholders.

We’re motivated by a vision to help the private sector solve some of humanity’s thorniest problems, bring clients an exceptional experience, and grow our team and our own impact.

In our seventeen years in business, we have built a curious and collaborative culture that enables our people to bring their best thinking to our clients to help them meet evolving expectations of and for business. We are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and reward collaboration, creative thinking, and initiative. Framework’s people are supportive of each other, accountable to each other, and value each other’s thinking and contributions no matter where they sit or where they stand.

The impact: Your contribution and dedication to your role are critical as your work will have a direct impact on FrameworkESG’s business, on the clients we serve, and on society. You will have the opportunity to learn the art and science of consulting, to learn Framework’s performance- and data-driven approach, and to develop a greater understanding of the business in the greater context of society.

The opportunity: As an intern (third- or fourth-year undergraduates, recent graduates, or graduate students,), you will support our ESG research and thought-leadership efforts while gaining exposure to the ESG consulting space. What’s more, you may find or confirm your career path. Past interns have completed research projects investigating the top issues of concern to S&P500 companies, developed case studies of ESG management best practices, and investigated ESG metrics that contribute to overall financial performance. Other projects have entailed developing Framework’s sustainability report and building tools to support Framework’s client work. Interns have also attended client meetings and worked on client projects where appropriate.
  • Term: Six months, extendable to approximately one year, beginning March 1, 2021.
  • Schedule: During the school year, interns can expect to spend ten hours per week and during the summer months up to 25 hours per week
  • Compensation and Benefits: Undergraduate students will earn USD20.00 and graduate students USD22.50–25.00 per hour. We offer a flexible work schedule, a week’s paid time off during the December holidays, use of firm-issued computer and mobile phone, and an office-supply stipend.

Your skills and personal qualities: We seek a student who has completed coursework in business, social enterprise and/or entrepreneurship, finance and economics, the social sciences, or environmental sciences and is interested in developing a greater understanding of the role of business in society and the relevance of environmental, social, and governance issues to business.

  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills and research abilities, including experience with Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze and synthesize information and draw conclusions.
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Sound judgment, diplomacy, and high professional ethics and integrity; discrete with client information
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a positive, “can do” attitude
  • Quick on the uptake; once we provide direction, you are able to work and learn independently
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive in developing relationships; comfortable reaching out to people to offer help or ask questions
  • Comfortable working remotely in the short term (due to COVID-19)
