Summer Private Equity Lead Intern

Overview
Malvern Capital Group, LLC (MCG) is an investment partnership firm backed by exceptional investors, entrepreneurs, and advisors. The firm was founded by Jameel Francis in 2020 to search, identify, acquire, and operate a single small to mid-sized business located in the U.S. MCG is working with a group of investors to evaluate businesses for investment with the hope of executing a deal in the next 12 months. MCG is headquartered in the Washington, D.C region. 

Role Description: 
Private equity MBA / Grad analyst will be responsible for executing lead generation, performing industry research, completing business evaluation, and other ad hoc responsibilities assigned by the Managing Partner. This position will allow analyst to generate a distinct list of accomplishments and have a measurable impact on the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of lower-middle market businesses. Additionally, the analyst will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and learn skills applicable to future career opportunities. 
Interns are responsible for industry and company market research as well as co-monitoring progress in marketing campaigns. Interns will also have the opportunity to perform detailed valuation analyses. 

MCG MBA interns learn how to:
  • Manage a team by managing undergraduate interns
  • Identify and evaluate industries of interest and potential acquisition targets
  • Conduct due diligence on acquisition targets
  • Analyze financial statements, business models, and other information in Confidential Information Memorandum

Role Responsibilities:
  • Identify and conduct research on industries that are aligned with Malvern’s investment criteria 
  • Source companies that are within each identified industry using online database tools 
  • Certify and categorize industry leads sourced from intermediaries
  • Manage owner outreach through social media platforms
  • Assist in managing outreach campaigns, balancing customized messaging with scale
  • Evaluate opportunities using quantitative framework and qualitative assessments
  • Review potential acquisition targets and present proposals to management team

Requirements:
  • Self-motivated with high initiative
  • Quick learner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong writing skill set
  • History of high academic achievement
  • Incoming Sophomores & Juniors
  • Ability to travel to Washington, D.C office periodically (optional)

Duration: April 26th - August 20st 

Time Commitment: 20-30 hours/week; flexible time off policy

Location: Remotely (with the option for in-person meetings in Washington, D.C pending COVID-19)

Compensation
  • Pay: performance based - $500 for each signed LOI; Up to $800 per month in stipend
  • Academic credits may be available based on school’s policy
