This is a full-time, limited duration employment opportunity for anyone to apply. Current State of Oregon employees may have an additional option as a job rotation. This position is represented by a union. 

Limited duration positions are benefit eligible positions with a designated maximum length of service. This position is expected to last for 24 months; however, it could end at any time or be extended.

What will you do?
As the SQL Developer you will develop SQL databases and write applications to interface with SQL databases to support Oregon Health Authority and Department of Human Services operations for the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Unit. These activities include interpreting Federal and State policies to define and prioritize requirements and determine technology strategy. You are also responsible for managing the efficient and effective deployment of technology within the Oregon Health Authority to improve performance and enhance reporting with a primary focus on achieving the business priorities for COVID-19 Response and Recovery Unit.

This role sits in the COVID-19 Information Systems Section and reports to the Information Systems Section Manager.

  • Minimum requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports; OR Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.
  • Professional experience using SQL.
  • Experience with professional systems design.
  • Problem-solver and analytical thinker who can fluidly adapt to business challenges while maintaining best practices and standards.
  • Able to work collaboratively and foster collaboration amongst team members at all levels.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional role with many stakeholders, priorities and active streams of work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all organizational levels.
  • Skill to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards.
  • Skill to establish long-range objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
