JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Director of Post Adoption Support Services (Directly), Director of Mental Health Services (Indirectly).
Occupational Summary:
Post Adoption Support Services offers free support to any family in our service area who has adopted a child from foster care, private agencies (domestic & international), or from family or friends (kinship adoption). Our clinicians are highly trained in adoption-related issues and common mental health concerns and provide individual support & assessment, social supports, run workshops, and help to coordinate an annual parent conference, among other services.
Duties and responsibilities:
Deliver parent workshops and training events, including the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Resource Parenting Curriculum (RPC) either virtually or in person; conduct screenings, mental health assessments, therapeutic intervention, consultation, and referral services with identified adoptive families by phone call, telehealth, and in-person meetings; provide evidence-based individual and family therapy supplemented with techniques from Training for Adoption Competence; attend family support and outreach events, including occasional weekends and evenings; participate in clinical quality assurance through supervision with attention to fidelity of trauma-informed post adoptive support services.

Required Qualifications
Education/Training: Master’s degree or higher in a human services field, preferably psychology or social work; knowledge of child welfare policies and programs, evidence-based treatments.

Skills and knowledge required: Excellent knowledge of evidence-based treatment models for child trauma survivors (e.g., TF-CBT, PCIT, CPP, SPARCS, ABC); excellent knowledge of the Resource Parenting Curriculum and completion of the train-the-facilitator process; excellent clinical teaching skills and clinical consultation skills; familiar with Microsoft office and computerized medical record systems.
 
Prior experience required: 3-5 years of clinical experience with management of complex mental health issues and childhood trauma, focusing on implementation of evidence-based treatment.

Personal qualities: Organized with regards to maintenance of a complex clinical schedule; receptive and encouraging style of communication; excellent presentation skills.

Amount of travel and any other special conditions or requirements:  Occasional travel in clinician’s personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) to parent education groups/conferences, individual and family therapy, and family support/outreach events. These events may occur during evening or weekend hours, in which case, the clinician and supervisor will adjust schedule accordingly.
 
NOTE: During the pandemic, the position will involve work from home, which will require a private workspace and access to internet.

Hours per day or week: 40 hours per week
