Product Intern

By giving our customers and partners, some of which are Fortune Global 500 companies across all industries, the most flexible commerce platform, which is based on a Microservices, API-first, true cloud, and headless architecture (we call it the MACH architecture*), we are not only helping them maintain their competitive advantage but we are also changing the e-commerce platform market. Founded in Germany in 2006, our international expansion has reached Europe, the US and Asia Pacific. In October 2019, with a $145M investment from global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners, commercetools is in full gear going forward.

When large enterprises buy software, they often resort to putting Request for Proposals (RFPs) out, which are long questionnaires full of questions that help the buyer to evaluate options from different software vendors. Buyers can then evaluate different vendors head to head, using the same criteria. Unfortunately, the RFPs that buyers often use are badly outdated. We at commercetools invented an entirely modern approach to commerce that is not reflected well in RFPs. In 2018, we built which is a website used to generate RFPs for modern commerce. It’s been use hundreds of times by large enterprises to generate RFPs and is widely seen as the standard for modern RFPs. We would like an intern to work directly for our Chief Product Officer to give a major refresh and expand it into adjacent products such as content and search.

In this internship, you would work with commercetools senior management to define the scope of the new, work with commercetools employees and partners to define update/extend the list of RFP questions, add the questions to the website, thoroughly test the functionality, and then lead a campaign to publicize its re-launch. This internship will pay $20/hour.

  • Ability to analyze RFPs (50% of role)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal (35% of role)
