Research Associate, Discovery Technologies
The Opportunity:
We have built a world-class team dedicated to using Machine Learning (ML) to accelerate drug discovery and deliver lifesaving medicines to patients faster. We are seeking a passionate laboratory Research Associate who can contribute to this initiative. You will use novel affinity-based screening techniques to generate the high-quality data needed to build our ML models and identify new ligands to challenging new targets. If you are passionate about working in the lab, making data-driven decisions and driving cutting-edge innovation, then we want you to join us!
Your Role:
- You will perform molecular biology and/or biochemistry laboratory experiments to generate affinity-based data.
- You will follow established laboratory protocols for research and establish new protocols when required.
- You will generate and analyze high quality data in a timely manner.
- You will maintain meticulous documentation of experimental data.
- You will maintain general lab systems, equipment, and inventory.
- You will collaborate closely with and communicate effectively with your direct supervisor, Research Scientists, and other project team members.
- You will participate on internal cross-functional drug discovery teams in collaboration with data science, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, protein sciences and biology representatives.
Your Background:
- You earned a B.S./M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, or related field.
- You have at least 1 year (more is preferred) academic or industry laboratory research experience.
- Ideally, you have hands-on experience in one or more of the following: protein purification, biophysical binding assays, biochemical assay development, molecular biology techniques (oligonucleotide quantification, ligation and sequencing), and small molecule drug discovery.
- You are committed to data driven decision making and executing laboratory experiments that enable decisions. You are eager to troubleshoot and solve technical and logistical problems.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable collaboration across multiple scientific disciplines.
