2022 Summer @ Roche Intern Program - STEM

Roche Indy offers the following internship opportunities. Below is a sample list of past summer intern projects for different business areas.

Analytics
  • Improve processes for existing reporting projects relating to Customer Master Data, Incentive Compensation, Territory Alignment, and Sales data
  • Provide a fresh perspective on the process and how the data is used
  • Make data and metric-driven decisions for our stakeholders
  • Manipulate, analyze and report data in conjunction with a cross-team collaboration with Sales

Engineering
  • Assist Process Development Engineering with product enhancement and concept feasibility projects
  • Support test automation projects to support battery life testing and button life test while operating at different temperature extremes
  • Connect devices directly to the cloud to share information in real time
  • Evaluate new technology to enable low cost touch screen options
                     
Information Technology (IT)
  • Support and aid in the development and implementation of the new Service Level Management process 
  • Develop the continuous improvement strategy for the Service Management Organization
  • Automate options in the Service Center using technology
  • Experiment on chatbot to learn if this helps to find answers on employees’ questions

Medical and Scientific Affairs
  • Technical and operational support to clinical studies and evidence generation projects
  • Correlate biomarkers with various real world outcomes

Process Development
  • Collaborate with external partners and internally owned equipment to evaluate potential solutions and assess the process development aspect of making Diabetes test strips in a new way
  • Perform data analysis for project improvements including current state performance and estimated future state based off of proposed solutions
  • Assist Business Improvement Managers in the implementation of the Lean System
  • Focus on Process Improvement, reporting, implementation of operational efficiencies, vendor support, business analysis, and patient/customer support

Regulatory & Quality
  • Create “cost of quality” KPI that could be used/shared organizationally to help emphasize the importance of good quality
  • Formalize plan to separate Product Performance from QC App
  • Identify quality issues by reviewing complaint trends
  • Explore viability and present findings/justification for implementing sampling of finished products

Research & Development (R&D)  
  • Develop programs for reviewing clinical data
  • Pioneer clinical data review through advanced analytics and machine learning
  • Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers
  • Learn Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) Standards and review the Standards from Diagnostics

Supply Chain
  •  ​Assist and help the Instrument Process Coordinators with assignments and projects including order entry, data analysis, and other projects
  • Review logistics data in existing contracts
  • Work with warehouse to see if there are possibilities to consolidate shipments
  • Build a database reviewing delays and issues in the supply chain and create a graph/report showing trends

Program Highlights:
  • Intensive 12-week paid internship

  • Lead or participate in intern committees to design and coordinate program events and initiatives
  • Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions
  • Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities
  • Paired with a 1:1 mentor through the Roche Young Professionals Business Resource Group
  • Access to on-site fitness and wellness center (subject to change)
  • Housing provided to interns whose permanent address is 30+ miles from the site (subject to change)
  • Program start dates: May 23, 2022 or June 20, 2022

 Qualifications:
  • Targeting STEM student currently working towards undergraduate degree
  • Desire GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Desire previous work experience
  • Student organization and/or study abroad experiences are a plus
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Finalist candidates must be able to virtually participate in Final Interview Day on October 27
