Status: Regular Full-Time / Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY Under the direction and general supervisor of the Vice President of Education & Training, develops and delivers education and professional training programs about human sexuality and reproductive health to youth, professionals, and parents. Develops and maintains professional contacts within the education and service community to promote program opportunities. Provides effective outreach, delivery, and evaluation of sex education and professional training programs. Markets programs to teachers, community service providers, parents, and youth. Provides professional development and technical assistance to teachers and community service providers. Coordinates and writes reports, copy for grant proposals, and fliers, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Plans, develops, markets, and facilitates high-quality in-person and virtual professional training for teachers, community service providers, and other professionals, including PPDE staff.
2. Plans logistics of training and education events.
3. Develops, markets, and facilitates accurate and engaging in-person and virtual educational programming about human sexuality and reproductive health statewide to youth and adults.
4. Collects, enters, analyzes, and reports data related to educational programming and professional training.
5. Responds to all requests for education programming with prompt planning or appropriate local referral.
6. Regularly contacts teachers and community service providers to assess and provide technical assistance by phone, email, and in-person.
7. Responsible for project management of current initiatives, projects & programs including planning, evaluation, and reporting.
8. Works with the Vice President of Education & Training and the Development department in preparing grant proposals for education programs.
9. Reviews selected education resource materials for accuracy and appropriateness, providing input for purchasing decisions.
10. Models a positive approach and excellent customer service skills. Promotes a spirit of teamwork among all staff.
11. Abide by the mission of PPDE.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education / work experience required in social work, public health, education, gender studies, or relevant field.
2. Minimum one year experience providing professional training. Two years’ experience preferred.
3. Minimum one year experience providing education to youth and young adults.
4. Sexual and reproductive health knowledge.
5. Experience with relationship building, outreach, and recruitment.
6. Bi-lingual, Spanish-speaking and/or ASL proficiency preferred.

Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to manage multiple multi-faceted projects from beginning to end. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various formats required. Must be highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented with the ability to set and meet deadlines. Must possess strong planning skills.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, procedure manuals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening, and interpersonal relationship skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and interact comfortably with a diverse group of clients, staff and volunteers in a non-judgmental, professional, and sensitive manner. This includes strong demonstrated presentation and public speaking skills.
Mathematical Skills: Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Computer Skills: Excellent keyboarding skills with high level of accuracy required. Proficiency in Internet usage and Microsoft Office essential, including but not limited to the following programs: Word, Excel, Access (or other similar database system), Publisher, and PowerPoint. Must possess capacity to learn software programs required for specific position and access electronic communications, including e-mail, Extranet and Internet.
Physical Demands: All of the position functions listed within this position description involve to greater and lesser degrees the following physical demands: close vision; hearing/listening; clear speech; walking; lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds; stooping; kneeling; bending; sitting; standing; and use of hands to finger, handle, and feel during examinations and using equipment. The physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Work Environment
1. Works in a diverse environment, builds productive relationships, and effectively works independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
2. Performs tasks that involve exposure to cleaning solvents and other chemicals.
3. Works in an environment with usually moderate noise level.
4. Works in an environment where protestors may be present at work and related sites.
5. Works an irregular schedule, which could include some weekends, early mornings and evenings.
6. Works in a cost-effective and flexible manner, multi-tasks, and works effectively under pressure due to conflicting demands.
7. Performs agency duties at various sites, so a valid driver license and reliable transportation is required.
