Environmental Program Coordinator

This position reports to the Environmental Policy and Review section and provides support for the Environmental Officer by performing detailed analysis of proposed developments to determine compliance with environmental regulations; research and evaluate environmental impacts of proposed local or state regulations and legislation: provide technical assistance to developers, staff and the public as needed. Coordinate various environmental and development related projects by planning project timelines, coordinating information flow between City departments, applicants, the public , and outside agencies, tracking project milestones, and performing project related tasks. This position will also provide review of PUDs and other development agreements as well as to provide wetland biologist reviews for development permits such as site plans. subdivisions and zoning cases.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Environmental Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, plus six (6) years of experience in a related field.
Master’s degree may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
Related experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years 

Licenses or Certifications:
None

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reading development proposal, legal documents, and construction plans. 

  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, codes, regulations, and ordinances. 

  • Experience preparing and presenting to stakeholders, the public, or Boards and Commissions.

  • Experience using ArcGIS

  • Experience using wetland online resources such as soil, geological, National Wetland Inventory, floodplain, and US Geological Survey topographic maps. 

  • Experience conducting field surveys. Identification of sensitive environmental features such as wetlands. 

  • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
