Corporate Communications Intern

First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. The Corporate Communications Intern will be responsible for drafting and editing content for the company’s internal website. In addition, this intern will help build website content within our Content Management System, and keep up-to-date documentation of the processes involved to work within our systems.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drafting internal feature stories for company website
  • Collaborating with internal partners on article content and layout design
  • Assisting with digital screens used to share corporate information
  • Assisting with other writing-specific projects that may arise among team, to include press releases, customer letters, M&A materials and leader presentations
  • Writing and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Upload, update, and maintain web pages using a content management system
  • Add images and other components to the page to enhance user experience
  • Upgrade existing content: add formatting, headlines, and hyperlinks to finished content using HTML
  • Proofread text across the site and correct spelling, grammar and punctuation errors
  • Check text for style, readability, and adherene to editorial policies and brand voice
  • Use multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Suite to prepare content and publish to the web
  • Review and update asset types across various platforms, ensuring consistency across our content libraries
In addition, the intern will participate in a line of business project designed to improve a process or solve a problem that will be presented to senior leadership at the close of the internship. The Communications Intern will attend professional development sessions, informational meetings, networking and community service events while having a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and its internship program.

Responsibilities
  • While a majority of the principal accountabilities are assigned by the intern's direct manager, there is a determined effort across the Bank to make each intern a dynamic part of the team with interesting projects. Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
  • Each intern will be assigned a project which will be designed to improve a specific process. A wrap-up presentation will be prepared by the Interns to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline their accomplishments and experience during the internship.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Enrolled (during the time of the summer program) as a rising Junior, Senior, or Master's Program at an accredited four year institution, majoring in Communications, Journalism or English
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

  • 3.0 minimum GPA
