Benefits Intern

This internship is a part of CONMED TALENT LAUNCH – a hands on, immersive program designed to provide students with the exposure, experience and development needed to launch a successful career at CONMED. The HR Benefits Team’s mission is to offer robust, competitive and affordable benefits to meet the evolving needs of our diverse workforce, focusing on the whole employee. We look to continuously educate employees and their families on available benefits, tools and resources to help make the most of an employee’s benefits. We are seeking a driven, people-focused Benefits Intern to join our team during Summer 2022.

The Benefits Team supports CONMED employees with all benefits needs from hire to retirement, including healthcare plan navigation, supporting employees through a leave of absence, assistance with retirement programs, and more! On the back end, the Benefits Team is always looking for ways to make processes more efficient, develop benefits strategy, and continuously educate employees on a number of benefits topics.

After the completion of the CONMED Benefits internship, the intern will gain skills and knowledge in the following areas:
  • Regulatory Compliance – IRS, ERISA, DOL, HIPAA, Federal, Statutory
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Leave of Absence – FMLA, Disability, Personal LOA, etc.
  • Benefits Project Management
  • Benefits Communications
  • Benefits Plan Documents and Policies
  • Benefits Strategy/Budgeting Process
  • Setting Employee Contributions
  • Administrative Processes
  • Open Enrollment Planning
  • Employee Issue Resolution
  • Health and Welfare Plans (Medical/Rx, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, etc.)
  • Retirement Plans
  • Cross-HR team Collaboration

The Benefits Intern will help to drive CONMED benefits strategy and initiatives forward by collaborating in internal and external meetings, supporting employees with general benefits questions, and completing various benefits projects.

Intern Responsibilities:
  • Support the 2023 benefits renewal process including setting employee rates, strategy development, etc.
  • Monitor the Benefits phone and inbox and assist employees with questions
  • Assist with Leave of Absence including employee intake, escalated issue resolution, internal processes, etc.
  • Develop employee communications such as the Benefits Newsletter, content for our internal communication platform, regulatory notices, organization of carrier/vendor communications, etc.
  • Update the Intranet
  • Assist in open enrollment preparation
  • Review, organize, and consolidate employee files
  • Assist in the completion of benefits forms and documents inventory

Position Requirements:
  • Pursuing completion of a bachelors or master’s degree
  • Must be available to work remote or onsite in Denver, CO, Monday – Friday throughout the summer internship program (May 31, 2022 – July 29, 2022)

Disclosure as required by Colorado law, the hourly pay rate range for this position is $15.00 to $27.00. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The hourly pay rate range is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
