Private Equity Analyst

Firm Overview:
Cohesive is a New York-based private equity co-investment firm that was founded in 2010 and has $1 billion of assets under management. As a co-investor, Cohesive makes equity investments directly into companies in partnership with other private equity firms who are leading the transactions. Cohesive is currently investing out of its third fund and plans to begin raising its fourth fund in 2022.

Cohesive seeks to build investment portfolios in its funds that are highly diversified across:

  • Sector: Cohesive is a sector generalist, but leverages the deep specialist sector expertise of its private equity firm partners
  • Size: Cohesive focuses on small/middle market opportunities, but also participates in large market deals
  •  Stage: Cohesive invests in mature LBOs and growth equity investments, but does not invest in venture capital-stage deals

Role
The Analyst will join a highly collaborative investment team that is currently comprised of six investment professionals. He or she will be deeply involved in all aspects of the investment process. The Analyst can expect a high volume of actionable live deals, stemming from Cohesive’s significant flow of investment opportunities that have been heavily diligence by its private equity partners. Since its founding, Cohesive has made over 55 investments, and regularly closes five or more platform investments per year. The Analyst can also expect to have significant interactions with the deal teams of the private equity firms that Cohesive partners with as well as members of senior management of Cohesive’s portfolio companies.

Responsibilities:
The Analyst will be expected to assume significant amounts of responsibility, both in the investment process and with many other aspects of firm operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with due diligence and execution of new investment opportunities. This includes reviewing diligence materials from Cohesive’s private equity firm partners, building and analyzing operating and LBO models, industry/competitor research, and preparing investment memorandums
  • Monitoring existing portfolio investments, including quarterly valuation analysis
  • Assisting with other firm-related activities including fundraising, investor reporting, investor relations, CRM maintenance and miscellaneous administrative functions
  • Completion of organized and independent training

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Business and/or Finance
  • Strong record of academic and extracurricular achievement
  • Demonstrated interest in investing
  • Exceptional understanding of finance and accounting concepts
  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and modeling skills
  • Strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills
  • Highly proactive, curious, and motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • U.S. work visa / authorization

Start Date and Tenure:
The starting date for this position is flexible, but no later than summer 2022. Analysts are expected to commit for a minimum of two years. Strong performers will be considered for advancement within the firm.
