EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field from a four-year accredited college or university 
One year accounting or reconciliation experience
Certified Public Accountant, a plus
 
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
 
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY
Reconciles multiple bank and investment accounts with annual activity totaling more than $700 million dollars to the general ledger using a variety of software applications and data sources. Researches and analyzes discrepancies, determines appropriate corrective action and communicates recommendation to appropriate District or depository bank staff members for resolution. Acts as the primary financial and compliance officer for the following awards: Instructional Materials Allotment, Read to Succeed, Advanced Placement Incentives, Apprenticeship Training Program, and Carl D. Perkins.
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Compiles information obtained from General Ledger and compares to the information downloaded from the District’s bank and various third party software programs that track investments, and credit card transactions.
2. Identifies, researches, and analyzes discrepancies between amounts posted to the general ledger, the bank, and third party software applications and determines appropriate corrective action.
3. Reconciles the par value of the investment accounts to the general ledger balances using the Evare investment software.
4. Contacts depository bank personnel to correct bank activity and requests research into bank activity that does not have sufficient detail to correctly post information.
5. Communicates the action needed to resolve the discrepancies to various accountants, comptrollers, and other Finance Department personnel.
6. Informs management of any suspicious banking activity.
7. Reviews the Depository Bids to ensure that bidding banks have the capability to support the District’s reconciliation process.
8. Prints copies of cancelled checks upon request.
9. Prepares a variety of transactions to the general ledger as necessary in conjunction with processing general ledger reconciliations.
10. Prepares audit schedules, year-end closing entries, and assists with the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
11. Prepares the monthly Interim Financial reports.
12. Maintains general ledger and cash books and performs month end close.
13. Prepares schedule of expenditures for the Superintendent and Board members for disclosure in the Schools FIRST report.
14. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
15. Reports to work on time every day.
16. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with driving record that meets the requirement of the District
