Utility Worker

We are dedicated to the community and to delivering excellent municipal services. The City of Dubuque invites applications for the fulltime position of Utility Worker in our Public Works Department. The Utility Worker will maintain municipal roads and rights-of-way; patch broken or eroded pavement and repair guard rails; mow and clear brush from along roads; plow snow from roadway; operate equipment used for applying concrete, asphalt or other materials to road beds or parking lots or for tamping gravel, dirt, or other materials; operate medium and heavy equipment; and perform and supervise performance of a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, construction and operation of public works and park facilities. Minimum of one year of experience operating light, medium, and heavy construction equipment, and in both asphalt and concrete maintenance and repairs; possession of a Class B CDL with air brakes, combination, and tanker endorsements; confined spaces certification and CDL Class A future goals; and data entry or computer usage experience or education is required.
