Family Physician
Family Physician. West Caldwell Health Council, Inc. Lenoir, NC. Deliver primary care in rural setting. Use electronic medical records system in maintaining patients’ chart. Work in concert with clinical care assistants in the delivery of primary healthcare services. Obtain a complete patient health history. Perform Physical Examinations. Initiate diagnostic procedures including lab, x-rays, EKG, etc. Initiate therapeutic procedures in accordance with accepted standards and governing rules and regulations. Prescribe and administer medication within the scope of DEA license. Provide health maintenance teaching, counseling and guidance. Provide teaching and counseling in preventive medicine. Maintain legible, accurate and problem oriented medical records. Provide on-going health maintenance and clinical management of chronically ill patients. Assist in providing clinical instructions and continuing education to the staff. Provide specialty referrals. Provide afterhours care as call schedule dictates. Handle all patients with courtesy and sensitivity. Promote the clinics within the medical community and within the service area. Implement Board Policies. Collect specimens for pathologic exams. Analyze and interpret data and formulate problem lists. Provide treatment of uncomplicated dermatologic conditions. Initiate emergency treatment for acutely ill patients. Supervise 4 mid-level practitioners (nurse practitioners, physician assistants).
Requires a Doctor of Medicine or foreign equivalent and certification in Family or Internal Medicine and three (3) years’ experience practicing medicine in an independent medical practice. Must have or be eligible (all but legal resident status) for a license to practice medicine in state of North Carolina (Medical Board License); Must have or be eligible (all but legal resident status) for North Carolina Privilege and DEA licenses. Requires Basic life support certification. Work M-Thur 8 am-6pm, Fri 8 am-12pm and on call every fourth week. Serve in rotation of Saturday clinic 8 am-12pm. Provide fill-in coverage as needed at different Lenoir, NC site. All hires must submit to a drug screen and background check.
