The Brain Injury Research Center of Mount Sinai (BIRC-MS) conducts cutting-edge clinical research focused understanding and improving short-term and long-term outcomes following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Since 1987 the BIRC-MS has made seminal contributions to the state of the science with respect to long-term outcomes of TBI, as well as developing and testing innovative approaches to improving health and life quality after injury. Much of our current work focuses on understanding post-traumatic neurodegeneration and its pathological substrate. Our work is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Patient Reported Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and the Department of Defense (DoD). The Biostatistician in the BIRC-MS is responsible for overseeing the data infrastructure of the entire portfolio of research projects in the BIRC-MS. Managerial
o Oversee data processing, storage, cleaning, and quality control for all BIRC clinical research studies
o Take a leadership role in data curating, data merging, creation of data dictionaries, and related tasks for federally funded multi-center studies that involve data harmonization and pooling.
o Pull data from multiple study data bases and deliver clean datasets to research staff
o Summarize data gathered in clinical research studies (e.g., run descriptive statistics on study data)
o Create study databases using simple systems (e.g., REDCap), assist in data capture, data extraction and simple analysis
o Develop, maintain and implement procedures for data entry, data cleaning, documentation and other related tasks; Identify and recommend solutions to data management issues
o Maintain knowledge of the current regulations and technologies related to data management
o Assist with creation of tables, figures and preliminary data analysis for original manuscripts and grant applications
o Mentor, train, and supervise research assistants and research coordinators in data entry;
o Maintain familiarity with all regulations, policies and procedures affecting departmental and organizational operations and manage the necessary processes to ensure compliance
o Develop work flow policies and procedures; prepare and update manuals and documents related to day-to-day BIRC operations
o Prepare reports for presentation at conferences and seminars
o Possibility of growth in position to have more responsibilities, including leading supervised analyses leading to co-authorship in original manuscripts

REQUIREMENTS
o At least a Bachelor’s degree, MS/MPH preferred, in quantitative discipline (e.g., Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, Quantitative Psychology)Minimum of 2 years clinical research and/or data management experience or training
o Excellent programming and database management skills
o Proficiency with SPSS, SAS, R or similar data analysis software
o Knowledge of basic statistical principles Proficiency with REDCap, eRAP, Endnote a plus
o Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a collaborative research program
o Strong communication skills (oral and written)
o Excellent analytic, troubleshooting, organizational and time management skills
o Familiarity with Trello Software (web-based project management application) a plus
