Cybersecurity Intern


Summary of Major Responsibilities
Through hands-on experience as well as observational and mentorship activities, the IT Intern will have the opportunity to learn about several aspects of Information Security and working in a real business environment.
Primary responsibilities will be involved with day-to-day security operations, including access audits, role validation, response to security events, and general monitoring of security tools. This role will also help monitor compliance with all security policies and standards as well as with applicable regulations and laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Evaluation and remediation of customer-initiated incident tickets on information security topics (reported phishing e-mails, blocked web sites, etc.).
  • User account administration (Provisioning / de-provisioning, account permissions & auditing in a Microsoft Active Directory integrated environment).
  • Assisting fellow employees with the installation and use of a variety of information security-related applications.
  • Assistance in the development of documentation, user guides, FAQs and presentation materials related to information security topics and tools.
  • Act as a problem solver to drive successful completion of assigned tasks.
  • Establish positive working relationships with team members, vendors and IT customers.
  • Friendly and positive demeanor with a desire to demonstrate the high standards of customer service.

Education and Experience
  • Enrollment towards a degree in information technology or information security.
  • Preference given to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • Appetite to learn; general business acumen.

Preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude for technology and an interest in pursuing a career in information technology and information security/cybersecurity.

Physical Requirements
  • May be required to lift 10lbs on an infrequent basis up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to travel between facilities in the metropolitan area as needed.
  • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email.
