Research Associate I

ABOUT YOU

You have a biologicals, life sciences degree, academic or commercial lab experience with good simple buffer knowledge and experience and a firm scientific foundation, and you are eager to put your skills and knowledge to use in the commercial biotech assay research and development field.  You also thrive in a fast-paced work environment where priorities and projects may change quickly.  You are attentive and teachable and have a strong desire to learn new skills and you want hone those skills you have already begun to master under the supervision and instruction of the team’s lead scientist.  You are a good teammate who is responsible and motivated and comfortable working closely in a team environment, where you openly share ideas and collaborate.  You may or may not already have lateral flow immunoassay experience.  (Prior experience with LFI is not required for the Research Associate I position.)

Job duties will include:

  • Performing daily experiments needed for all aspects of lateral flow assay development
  • Occasional ELISA experiments as needed
  • Analyzing and reporting results to colleagues and supervisors
  • Preparing experimental design as needed
  • Organizing and aliquoting specimens as needed
  • Assist with other tasks as necessary
  • Using creative and critical thinking to troubleshoot tasks

Required qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a biologicals science
  • 1-2 years in academic or industrial/commercial lab setting
  • A high level of organization skills, record keeping, and attention to detail
  • Ability to use critical and creative thinking
  • Ability to multitask and have flexibility in design and experimental changes
  • Ability to interpret and communicate data
  • Highly motivated with great pipetting skill and an understanding of the fundamentals of immunoassay
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

Preferred qualifications:

  • BSL-2 experience
  • Experience in immunoassay development
  • ELISA

Work environment information

  • Position responsibilities include work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab (BSL-2) and a humidity-controlled environment.
  • This position requires an ability to lift up to 30lbs with assistance.

Wage/Benefits information

Pay Range: $22.00 - $28.60 per hour, gross.
