Job Responsibilities

Position Overview:
Under limited supervision of the Georgia Registry of Immunization Transactions and Services (GRITS) Manager and general supervision of the GRITS Assistant Manager, this position works as part of a team that is responsible for promoting, implementing and ensuring standards-based interoperability between the immunization information system (IIS) and other information systems to obtain high quality data in the IIS and facilitate IIS data sharing with providers, schools, health plans, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), other IIS and other partners.

Interoperability analyst will maintain a Health Level 7 (HL7) interface between the jurisdiction’s IIS and the provider’s electronic health record (EHR) system, pharmacy information system or a Health Information Exchange (HIE). In addition, this role will work to enable providers, pharmacies and other partners, e.g., health plans, schools or colleges, to query the IIS for immunization records in real time to help bring individuals of all ages up-to-date on recommended immunizations. This role will also ensure timely and complete IIS data submissions to CDC, interoperability with CDC’s VTrckS system to support Vaccines for Children (VFC) and other vaccination programs, and collaborate with CDC, the American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA), other IIS and other national partners to implement interjurisdictional data exchange via the IZ Gateway.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
 

  • Analyzes customer business needs to determine nature and extent of customer requirements and concerns.
  • Documents interoperability processes for users of new or upgraded data exchange connections.
  • Provides customer support in the maintenance of data exchange connections.
  • Tests or coordinates testing or new data exchange connections or upgrades.
  • Researches and analyzes connection/user issues by applying a variety of analytical and research techniques.
  • Assists in the development of standards and procedures used in development of new or enhancement of existing processes.
  • Participates in evaluation of new techniques or solutions to improve service and efficiency of processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:
 

  • Microsoft Office intermediate proficiency especially in Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with superiors, colleagues, and clientele.
  • Proficient on online training platforms and virtual meeting applications.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
 OR
High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience providing information and referral services to the public.

Preferred Qualifications: 
 

  • 2 years of professional experience in data management and analysis, preferably in a public health or health care setting
  • Experience working with web services (RESTful, SOAP) and APIs to facilitate data exchange between systems
  • Experience as a lead worker, an associate business analyst or equivalent in an appropriate programmatic area
  • Experience in oral and written communications as it is associated with knowledge sharing of WEB Based Application
  • Experience with HL7 Information Sharing Transactions
  • Experience with HIPAA requirements as it is applicable to Immunization Records
  • Experience with ACIP Adult and Childhood Immunization Schedules
  • Experience with Public Health and/or Clinical Systems
