Harbor Street Capital Overview

Harbor Street Capital (“HSC”) is a private investment firm dedicated to identifying, acquiring, and operating established private businesses in the United States with an enterprise value between $20M - $60M. The firm’s Managing Partners come from a background in investment banking (Goldman Sachs), private equity, and business development (Fanatics, Deloitte, Outreach.io). HSC is funded by seasoned entrepreneurs, executives, and institutional investors.

Description of Role

Interns will work closely with the Managing Partners on all aspects of operations including deal sourcing and origination, evaluation of investment opportunities, due diligence, and execution of a potential deal.  

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Partnering with the firm’s leadership to develop and execute investment theses
  • Researching and identifying attractive industries
  • Analyzing target companies and drafting emails for business owners
  • Performing due diligence for target companies

While the position is unpaid, the position also includes an educational program with:

  • Direct access to the Managing Partners at HSC via weekly meetings
  • Orientation to discuss HSC’s investment process and philosophy
  • Educational sessions on financial modeling and analysis, valuation, M&A, and more
  • Help on aspects of recruiting including networking, mock interviewing, and resume review

Interns are encouraged to seek school fellowships and/or course credit, if possible. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to write professional emails
  • Strong and proven interest in private equity, investment banking, M&A, and entrepreneurship
  • Genuine curiosity for how businesses work and a tenacious attitude towards research

Applications Details and Process

  • This is for an in-semester Summer 2024 internship. The hours per week and length are somewhat flexible.
  • We expect a minimum of 32 hours per week and a 10 week commitment.
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
