Occupational Therapist

Children's Behavioral Services (CBS) is a multidisciplinary pediatric team providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Occupational Therapy (OT) to children in South Central Missouri. Since its opening in 2019 as a one-room operation, CBS has expanded to two state-of-the-art facilities featuring multiple treatment pods, inclusive classroom spaces, and custom sensory gyms. Our locations in Willow Springs and West Plains, Missouri, serve as hubs for innovative care, with plans to introduce Speech-Language Pathology and Physical Therapy in 2024. CBS is dedicated to delivering exceptional support in our clinics, local schools, and the homes of our clients.

Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development and rehabilitation of patients with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities through the implementation of prescribed occupational therapy plans.
  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to create treatment plans in consultation with physicians or based on prescriptions, ensuring patient goals and needs are met.
  • Assist patients in developing or regaining essential skills.
  • Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions with patients.
  • Promote patient independence by tailoring therapy programs to each individual’s physical abilities, cognitive level, and personal interests.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  • Coordinate discharge planning by consulting with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers.
  • Ensure continuity of care after discharge by providing patients, families, and caregivers with home exercise programs, recommending assistive equipment, and suggesting follow-up care options such as outpatient or home health services.
  • Document patient care and treatment details in both patient and departmental records.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold clinical operations by following privacy and confidentiality protocols.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by following all relevant procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to infection control policies to protect both patients and staff.
  • Stay current in the field by attending workshops, reading professional literature, networking, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Provide training and support to occupational therapy staff through in-service training programs.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations by staying informed on relevant legislation and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Contribute to team efforts by completing related tasks as required.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current or pending Missouri Occupational Therapy License
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers, or ability to obtain within 90 days

Work Location: Client sessions may occur in various settings, including the clinic, client’s home, outdoors, schools, and community environments (e.g., stores, day programs). In-home and school-based services will be provided based on client needs and at the discretion of staff and providers.
