CONMED

Internal Audit Intern

May 2023 • Largo, FL

What I liked

This internship was a great learning experience going into my senior year in Finance. I was able to take ownership of multiple projects throughout the summer that had a meaningful impact on the company. My team was extremely knowledgeable and friendly when it came to any questions I asked. My internship was remote, so I was able to learn and work from home. The wages are very high for an internship. The internship coordinator also had weekly intern meetings to get to know the industry and network with executives.

What I wish was different

The one thing I think could be different is the length of the internship. It is initially 10 weeks, but it could be extended a few weeks earlier or later. I was able to stay on into the Fall and Spring, so this doesn't apply to me, but when I hit the 10 week mark I felt like there was more I could work on.

Advice

Be open about what you want to learn and how you want to connect with other professionals. The CONMED team is very friendly, and I was able to connect with professionals in other financial departments to job shadow and create networking connections.

Marketing Communications Intern

May - July 2023 • Largo, FL

What I liked

Within CONMED's MarCom department, I’ve had the experience that has allowed me to immerse myself in all aspects of corporate digital marketing communications. Each day has presented a new opportunity for growth through hands-on work alongside a supportive, intelligent team, where I have been to innovate and try something new at every turn. Working remotely, I’ve had the chance to create meaningful connections with my team, other interns, and various other people at CONMED which I attribute to the welcoming culture of the company. This summer helped build my marketing skills and professional skills, and I’m grateful I spent my summer internship with CONMED.

Advice

If you work remotely, try to schedule 15-minute coffee chats with anyone outside of your department that you interact with! Learning more about the roles of people outside of my department, but people I interact with on a weekly basis, helped me understand CONMED's structure on a deeper level, and who questions should be directed to.

Marketing Intern

June 2021 • Greenwood Village, CO

What I liked

I loved the culture and people at CONMED. What an amazing place to work, and you're helping make a difference too!

What I wish was different

I liked the work a lot, but a little more work pertaining to a day in the life of a Product Manager would have been nice. I feel like it didn't fully prepare me for a future role in marketing.

Advice

Jump in with both feet. Absolutely immerse yourself and learn as much as you possibly can. The only limit is yourself and you can learn and do so much in such a short period of time. Have fun, learn a ton, and make connections!

Regulatory Affairs

June - August 2020 • Largo, FL

What I liked

CONMED's internship program specializes in it's mentorship. I was paired up 1 on 1 with a senior regulatory affairs specialist the whole internship which allowed me to work and shadow a professional. The talent acquisition team structured a program that had a strong focus on encouraging interns to discover how their passions can be incorporated in a full-time position. We had guest speakers from high leadership positions in the company as well as career improvement programs (Linkedln & Resume Workshops). I was able to experience working in biomedical industry and presenting in an formal environment. Overall, I have been grateful for the soft and hard skills I learned at CONMED and I recommended it to anyone starting their career!

What I wish was different

I wish I made the time to talk to the other interns 1on1 more because they are so cool!

Advice

Take the time to learn and talk with members from all different departments. I gained an invaluable mentor from it!

Marketing Intern

July 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Where to begin? There are so many aspects of my internship experience that made me love CONMED. The program itself was extremely structured and provided the interns weekly opportunities to advance in our careers as well as mentors to connect with on a weekly basis. The culture at CONMED is extremely unique and every individual I met made me feel like they were invested in my growth. As an intern, I felt the perfect balance of independence and guidance. My manager set clear expectations and gave me freedom to deliver. I felt like I was able to valuably contribute and grow. Additionally, CONMED provided me the opportunity to explore other areas of the business and helped me to find my passions and pursue my career goals.

What I wish was different

CONMED did an outstanding job of facilitating a remote internship. I still felt extremely engaged and like I was a part of a team, however, I wish I could have met the other interns / my coworkers face-to-face. That being said, the remote aspect of the internship actually encouraged me to make nationwide / world-wide relationships given the virtual environment.

Advice

Show up fully engaged everyday. If you capitalize on the opportunities CONMED provides, good things will come your way!

ConMed is a great place to intern! The Human Resources Team made sure we had the best experience possible and gave us opportunities to learn from the current employees and the management team. I was able to gain hands-on experience in internal audit, and everyone that I spoke to at ConMed always took the time to answer any questions that I might have. I really appreciated interning at a company that put so much value on their interns and who invested so much of their time and energy into my career development!

What I wish was different

I would have enjoyed interacting with my coworkers in person, although due to COVID-19, that was not possible.

Advice

If you have the opportunity to intern at ConMed, you should definitely do it! ConMed is a great company, and I learned so much during my internship and I was given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in internal audit!
