Audit Intern
June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA
What I liked
KPMG’s Audit Internship provided me with a great amount of hands-on experience as I was assigned to multiple clients the entire summer. I was able to work in audit engagements and rotate in various industries. One of the best experience as an intern is being able to participate in KPMG’s National Intern Training. You learn so much about your service line and how everything is being applied to the daily work day.
What I wish was different
As an intern, you are always worried about your performance since this is the potential company that you want to work for. With that, I wish I had taken more time to network more than I did.
Advice
For everyone applying or entering an internship, I would strongly encourage you all to be open on what you want and what your goals are. Firms, professionals and recruiters are seeking you out as much as you are trying to fit in their companies. If things aren’t going well, you have to speak up and let them know. I think a lot of students forget that.

Tax/Marketing Embark Intern
June - August 2018 • Short Hills, NJ
What I liked
I liked working with different teams and leaving more about the other departments in KPMG. I participated in the Embark program which means, I worked more on the administrative side, which also allowed me to have more time to make connections and speak with other teams to see what they were working on.
What I wish was different
I wish a stayed a little longer on the Tax side, but since I will come back for another internship, I will be with the Tax department the whole time next summer.
Advice
Make as many connections as you can and always ask your co-workers if they need help throughout the day.

Deal Advisory Intern
June - August 2019 • Auckland, Auckland Region
What I liked
I loved participating in KPMG's Global Internship Program, which allowed me to spend half of my internship in my home office in San Francisco, CA (Deal Advisory Intern) and half in Auckland, New Zealand (Corporate Finance Intern).
What I wish was different
I wish the internship had been longer. It only lasted 8 weeks.
Advice
Be cautious about working at a large firm because there's a lot of bureaucracy. Although it has a great name and brand, you might not actually enjoy the work or the culture.

Embark Intern
June - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA
What I liked
My internship experience with KPMG this summer has opened up so many doors for me. Not only have I grown professionally with the various and diverse events I have attended, I was also able to broaden my network within the firm.
KPMG's Embark Internship gave me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and have a better understanding of their audit engagements within clients. I also had the opportunity to work with their NPRC team, BTS team and shadow in Deal Advisory.
I am personally grateful for the way that the people in KPMG treated me with great professionalism which helped me transition from being a college student to a young professional starting her career.

Advice
A piece of advice to future interns, SPEAK UP, LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD. If there is an opportunity that you would like to explore, or you want to be placed somewhere, you have to speak up. No one else will know until you tell them what you want.

Audit Intern
June - August 2018 • San Francisco, CA
What I liked
What I liked about my internship this summer was absolutely the people. Everyone that I worked with was not only so approachable but also easy to talk to and ask for help. There were many events that gave us the opportunity for interns to ask questions to those above us that we would normally not work with (managers, partners etc). I even had a partner shadow day where I was able to see what a partner does day to day.
What I wish was different
I would say the amount of time that I spent on each client was too short. For two engagements, I was on them for two weeks, and the rest were just a few days. I feel that it would be ideal to stay on one engagement for two to three weeks so we really get a feel for what it would be like to work on that engagement.
Advice
One piece of advice would be to ask (good) questions and be enthusiastic about being there. The last thing your senior want is an intern that doesn't want to be there or someone who complains about the work they are assigned.
